Ledger Cast Weighs Bond Rout, Gold Highs and Bitcoin's Role in the Panic

Markets·October 10, 2026

The hosts of the Ledger Cast podcast, Brian Krogsgard and Josh Olszewicz, devoted their latest episode to what they describe as a severe crash in bonds across traditional markets, and to the question of whether bitcoin has any role to play in the upheaval. The conversation moved from the spread of COVID-19 in the United States to the wave of companies sending staff home and cancelling events.

On the macro side, the pair pointed to gold reaching seven-year highs with further records possibly ahead, and to emergency interest rate cuts. They also cited a Robinhood outage as a sign of how strained trading platforms became during the stress.

The crypto portion covered price analysis for bitcoin and ether, along with Augur v2 and FTX's push further into prediction markets. Krogsgard and Olszewicz also criticized Steemit, discussed the Tezos network upgrade known as Carthage, and noted that UK regulators are looking at BitMEX and Kraken. Bitcoin mining and a securities lawsuit involving Canaan rounded out the rundown.

Olszewicz's recent Brave New Coin articles on ETH, EOS and BAT were also highlighted. The hosts stressed that the episode is educational and not investment advice, and that listeners should do their own research before buying anything.
